What are UTKRISHT coaches ?
The word UTKRISHT (उत्कृष्ट) is a Hindi word of Sanskrit origin meaning excellent. The UTKRISHT coaches are upgraded under "Project Utkrisht" of Indian Railways. As per this plan, some selected trains are provided with Utkrisht coaches whose interiors are wrapped with vinyls, washrooms are upgraded with more amenities, addition of improved and efficient lighting etc. Even the exterior has a different livery compared to the conventional ICF coaches. It should be noted that these are not new coaches, these are the existing coaches modified and retrofitted.
