The outcome of the Lok Sabha elections in the country’s eastern state Odisha is likely to have a significant impact on the formation of the next government at the Centre. This politically significant state is having simultaneous Assembly elections in four phases on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. Odisha has 21 parliamentary constituencies. In 2014, the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD won as many as 20 of these 21 seats. The BJP took the remaining seat. In 2019, the contest in the state is between the BJP, the BJD, and the Congress.
