Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor is seventh in line to the British throne. While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son may never be king, he is a blue-blooded member of the British Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made it clear they wish to raise Archie away from the royal spotlight, a move cemented by their very private christening plans. But Archie is a matter of public interest, and fans will feel cheated not to see him, a royal expert has claimed. On July 3 Buckingham Palace confirmed baby Archie’s christening would take place away from public view. Today’s ceremony will be held in the Queen’s private Windsor Castle and members of the public will not be able to see Archie arriving at or leaving the church. While royal christenings are traditionally private, in recent years royal fans have enjoyed watching christening parties arrive at and depart from the church before and after the service. Archie christening: The adorable reason why Prince Philip won’t be at Archie’s christening Crowds gathered to watch Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William head to and from the church for the christenings of each of their three children - but this spectacle will not take place with little Archie. watchers will have to wait until after the service to see pictures of Archie Harrison in the famous Honiton lace christening gown. Another shock blow to royal watchers has been the news that Archie’s godparents will not be revealed. A statement from Buckingham Palace read: “Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday July 6. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton. “The godparents, keeping with their wishes, will remain private.” expert Richard Fitzwilliams has claimed Meghan and Harry’s determination to keep Archie out of the public eye is unfounded and could backfire. Archie’s exclusive christening plans were revealed just days after the Sussex family faced criticism for having spent 2.4 million taxpayers’ money on doing up their Frogmore Cottage home. Mr Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “If we knew certain details about the christening we could enjoy it. “And if we were allowed the sort of access to it William and Kate gave, we could relate so much more to the sense of occasion of an event like this, whilst retaining the privacy Harry and Meghan want. “Taxpayers who paid £2.4million to renovate their home of Frogmore Cottage with more expenditure to come won’t like this at all. “There will, of course, be the photographs which will have a global audience eagerly waiting. “It’s a historic occasion, Archie has dual nationality and is biracial and a potential role model.” Mr Fitzwilliams continued: “Archie is not, as Harry apparently likes to think, simply a ‘private citizen’. “He may not have taken his courtesy title of Earl of Dumbar
