The Morobe Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee in Lae have plans in place to set up offices in all the 9 districts of the province. Morobe’s Secretariat Office Coordinator, Thelma Hungito, told EMTV News today that victims of gender-based violence in rural areas suffer silently due to no proper offices to report to.
Hungito said most cases are dealt with by police reservists in some districts through mediation because there’s no police presence in the districts.
