Mum of baby 'murdered by his dad' breaks down in court as 999 call played

Mum of baby 'murdered by his dad' breaks down in court as 999 call played The mum of a baby allegedly killed by his father broke down in tears as the 999 call she made after finding the 15-week-old infant unconscious was played to jurors.  Cody Rhys Williams-Jones died on December 8, 2016, after suffering "catastrophic head injuries" and bleeding to his eyes.  He was described by mum Paula Williams as being “happy and full of smiles", before his death at the University Hospital Wales, Wales Online reports .  Her ex-partner, Matthew Jones, denies murder and manslaughter.  Ms Williams told Newport Crown Court that Jones didn't want her to keep the baby when she found out she was pregnant.  She claimed he was largely absent during Cody's life because he worked long hours, and described how the couple rowed over how hard Jones rocked Cody in his baby chair.  Ms Williams also told the court about a conversation she had with Jones after Cody died where her then-partner asked her not to end the relationship in case the police "tried to blame him" for the infant's death.  As part of the evidence a recording of the 999 call made by Jones shortly after 6pm on December 7, 2016 – the day before Cody died – was played to the court.  Ms Williams broke down in tears as the recording was being played and had to take a break from giving evidence. Jones, 26, also cried in the dock while the tape was played.  In the recording Jones can be heard saying: “My baby isn’t breathing, he’s lifeless. He’s breathing but he’s making noises. He isn’t responding.  “I don’t know what happened. He was making some noise and pushed off my chest onto the bed on his back and flipped over. He’s been making that noise ever since.  “He’s 15 weeks. Can you send somebody? He is conscious but he’s making noises and is lifeless.”   The call operator then gave Jones instructions on how to perform CPR and Ms Williams took over the phone. The 26-year-old, who has since given birth to a daughter, said Cody was "gasping for breath" and that his "eyes were rolling backwards".  On Monday prosecutor Paul Lewis QC told the court a post-mortem examination found Cody’s injuries were likely due to an “episode of abusive head trauma involving a shaking mechanism”.  The post-mortem examination found Cody suffered bleeding on two parts of his brain, swelling on the brain, retinal hemorrhages (multiple small bleeds in both of his eyes), and a bruise on his forehead. The medical cause of death given by the pathologist was “a catastrophic head injury”.  Mrs Williams told the court on Tuesday that when she discovered she was pregnant Jones "wasn't happy" and suggested she had a termination. She said he was concerned about finances and felt they weren't ready to have a baby. The couple had been together for around nine months at the time.  She said: "When I told him I was going to keep the baby he didn't like it. He said if I kept the baby he didn't want anything to do with me or the baby.  "He changed after the second scan when I found out it was a boy. He came round to the ide
