Joe Biden thinks that "the Affordable Care Act works pretty well”. A 2009 Harvard study found that 45,000 people a year die in the US due to lack of healthcare. While since then the uninsured rate has decreased from 45 million in 2009 to 27.4 million people in 2017, rising drug prices and huge deductibles still cause tens of thousands of deaths each year. A system that allows over 10% of the population to go uninsured and far more be underinsured is not doing pretty well but is failing.
