The kids wanted to be bad boys, but in lieu of chaotic bad, opted for chaotic neutral with the intent of being chaotic good. They snuck out and left canned goods and Pokemon cards for the neighbors, which must have confused them like nothing else. They were afraid they'd get caught and get in trouble, and I think that's just plain adorable, since no one would ever send a kid to jail for leaving canned goods and pokemon cards for their neighbors.
