El Paso victim describes 'calmest shooter ever'

El Paso victim describes 'calmest shooter ever' The 21-year old man who killed 20 people at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas on Saturday (August 03) was "the calmest person ever," according to one of his victims.

Speaking from her hospital bed, Maribel Latin told media that the suspect, Patrick Crusius, "cold bloodedly came straight at us and shot us."

Latin was in front of the Walmart store with her 10-year old daughter's soccer team who were selling drinks to raise money.

"All of a sudden in the middle of us laughing and having a good time talking, (he) just started shooting," said Latin, who tried to hide behind a vehicle to avoid the gunman. "He shot eight rounds. I had to pretend I was dead."

Latin was shot in her arm and foot. Her daughter got away safely.

"He wasn't breathing hard. He was the calmest person ever. He didn't say anything, just plain hatred and just anger."

Federal authorities said they are treating the massacre as a case of domestic terrorism.

A four-page statement posted on 8chan, an online message board often used by extremists, and believed to have been written by the suspect, called the Walmart attack "a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas."
