2019 FIDE World Cup Starts With A Powerful Attack

On the 10th of September with a slight delay, the first round of the FIDE World Cup 2019 took off in a packed Ugra Chess Academy in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia). 128 players are playing in round 1 and for this video I selected Russian GM Dmitry Jakovenko's brilliant attacking game vs Peruvian GM Jose Eduardo Martinez Alcantara. In Sicilian Najdorf Jakovenko launches a strong attack sacrifices two pawns then two minor pieces and by relying on opponent's inaccurate defense soon wins the game with a beautiful queen sacrifice!
