Combining Design and Other Interests to Form a Niche

Combining Design and Other Interests to Form a Niche Episode 121: Combining design and other interests to form a niche

Today we talk about how you can use your design skills along with your other interests to create a niche.

First of all, drop the idea that there's something wrong with a micro-niche. There's huge abundance to be found in a micro-niche. Understand that MOST industries aren't very good at design and creative work and use that to your advantage!

Use your niche interest, combined with your creative talents, to dominate a micro-niche. For example, if you're a letterer with an interest in cars, you can find a LOT of work in that niche!

Because MOST companies (even some of the big ones) need someone like you! A letterer who is in the pool of other hand letterers has a lot of competition but a letterer who works in the field of car enthusiasts and influencers stands apart.

When you operate in other spaces (other than design) you blow everyone else out of the water. If there's an account for an enthusiast that also looks incredible, it's immediately hugely competitive. So don't dismiss the micro-niche!
