Images on a budget was the topic of a recent video comment I received. Shout out to viewer Aaron Woodyear for asking about finding images for cheap. Majority of my viewers are self-publishing books with pictures.

Whether they’re looking for book cover images, low content images, no content images or picture book images. So, regardless of your scenario, today, I’m going to share with you where to get images on a budget.

But first, Here’s a question for you, Where do you think’s the best site for cheap images? Let me know in the chat and the comments.

Obviously this list isn’t exhaustive and I’m sure there are some places for getting images on a budget that didn’t make my list. So, make sure you share your favorite places for getting images cheap.

Just to be clear, when I say these are some of the best sites for cheap images, I’m referring to the cost of the images and not the quality. So, I should really say where to find good images for cheap.

Also, make sure regardless of which site you get images from that you ALWAYS check the licensing.

First, since everyone loves FREE, let me cover some sites where you can go for downloading free images.
1. Pixabay -
2. Pexels –
3. Freepik –
4. Burst (by Shopify) -
5. Vecteezy -
6. Unsplash – - Great for high quality photos. But If you’re wondering Where to find vector images they won’t be on this site.
7. Reshot -
8. Foodiesfeed -
9. Gratisography -
10. Freestocks –

As I’ve stated in previous videos, the biggest downside to using free images is that they’re readily available and, therefore, extremely common in the marketplace. So, if you have allotted at least some funds for acquiring images, I strongly suggest trying out some of these paid sites. If you plan your books ahead of time, you can actually make out really well with some of the deals they offer.

Here are some good options for paid stock images sites:
1. Shutterstock -
2. Depositphotos -
3. IStock -
4. 123rf -

If you think that deal is great, I have one more paid site that will blow your mind. But first what types of books would you use these images for?

5. StoryBlocks –

Now, before you make a decision on a site, especially if it’s a paid site, go browse their site and see if they have the images that will work for your book and genre.

Have you ever wondered about the pros and cons of low content and no content books? Well then check out the video I did and see which business model I prefer.

I’ll see you in the next video and remember to Write Right.
