Dated September ninth, Homero Novelo’s resignation letter is addressed to the U.D.P. Secretary General Pearl Stuart. Novelo tells Stuart, “It has been an enjoyable but though journey from the U.D.P. supporter to Standard Bearer of the party. I have learnt many lessons and made many friends who became my supporters. I don’t want to be counted out for one day I may seek public office again…” Homero also tells Stuart that he is stepping down due to personal reasons. Opposition Leader John Briceño says that Novelo’s departure after a brief stint in the political arena was not a surprise.
