Volocopter flies for the first time in a European city On 14 September 2019, Volocopter 2X took flight for a 4 minute flight near the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The flight took place in front of a crowd of more than 12 000 people and as part of the “Vision Smart City” event supporting a research project by the Technical University of Stuttgart to examine the social acceptance of air taxis. It allowed people the get a feeling of what it will be like when air taxis become part of the existing mobility options in cities around the world.

At the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart technical innovations and sustainable transport concepts for future mobility were being presented. These include for example concepts of carsharing and electric vehicles to demonstrate to the public in a tangible and accessible way the versatile future mobility developments made in Baden-Württemberg.
