Despite the common misconception that Soca is only relatable on a lighter note, more often than not, social issues are addressed...subtly so, but addressed nonetheless. “Spanish Harlem Riddim”, the latest release from Lyon Roar Productions, showcases exactly that. While none of the songs tackle this particular current event head on, the Latin influence in the melody itself is directly correlated to the recent influx of Venezuelans into Trinidad and Tobago.

The riddim features newcomer AJ, rising star Rane, crooner Ayanna La Borde, and producer extraordinaire, Mysta Lyon. Respectively the tracks “Drip”, “Ay Papi”, “No Strings Attached”, and “Fete Iz Life” each incorporate a different component and vibe, generating four unique sounds, in spite of their uniform beat. Amongst seasoned artistes, AJ stands strong, while Rane adds a sexy, feminine element. Not to be outdone, Ayana Laborde delivers a tempting offer with her rendition, and Mysta Lyon culminates it off, having equally excelled at both roles of this project! Additionally Dwayne Adonis Nelson astounds with his contribution to the venture, serving as writer of the songs “Ay Papi” and “Fete Iz Life”!

“Spanish Harlem Riddim” with its infusion of distinct Latin sounds is a quintessential representation of the inclusivity that is Soca! One and all are welcomed and unified through this tantalizing and rhythmic beat!
