The most important part of a puppy's life is the first six months. Puppies can either learn to develop bad habits, or they can learn to develop good habits. When I talked to dog owners in later training, I tell people that you need to repeat an exercise thirty times before the dog learns that exercise. If you are trying to create or trying to fix a problem that the dog has learned, you need to repeat the exercise over ninety times for that dog to correct that problem.
What you'll want to take away from this is that it's much better to set the foundation of your puppy's life with good habits than it is to wait and make mistakes and then go back and try and fix bad habits. Some people try to do way too much with their young puppy. You need to allow your puppy to be a puppy before you go into advanced training.
