Tough new water restrictions will come into effect across Sydney from tomorrow as dam levels continue to fall to critical levels.

The level two restrictions mean residents can only use a bucket to wash vehicles and water their gardens and they'll need a permit to fill up pools. Those caught breaking the rules face fines of up to $550.
