Carjacking & armed robbery series of 7-Eleven stores ends in pursuit crash #NATIONALCITY (San Diego) - January 7, 2020

A male and female carjacked a 2020 Toyota Corolla at gunpoint from Petree Street in El Cajon around 12:57 AM. About 10 minutes later, San Diego Police received a report of an armed robbery to the 7-Eleven on San Carlos Drive. About 30 minutes later, Sheriff received a report of an armed robbery to the 7-Eleven on Worthington Street. About 25 minutes after the first two successful robberies, the suspects attempted an armed robbery to the 7-Eleven on N Euclid Avenue, but the clerk said he felt he was about to be robbed, so he hit the alarm and ran away. The suspects failed at the the 3rd robbery. About 2 minutes later, a National City Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle near a FOURTH 7-Eleven, and attempted a vehicle stop. The driver failed to yield, resulting in a police pursuit. At 2:05 AM the suspects crashed the stolen Corolla through a wood fence in a driveway in the 1200 block of E 7th St in National City. The vehicle went over a short wall, causing the vehicle to be high-centered. The male passenger ran from the vehicle but was caught seconds later by pursuing officers. He had some choice words for the men and women in blue who caught him. The female driver was also taken into custody. National City Police confirmed the suspect and suspect vehicle descriptions for all 3 robberies, the carjacking and the pursuit were a match. El Cajon Police are investigating the armed carjacking. SDPD, Sheriff and National City PD are investigating the armed robberies, and the pursuit is being handled by National City Police as well.

San Diego Police (San Carlos Drive): "The suspect entered the 7-11 with a handgun. The clerk, victim had his head down preparing the register for the day. The suspect told the clerk to give him the money and the victim complied. The victim was getting the money from the till when the suspect reached over and took the money out of the register. The suspect left the store, got into a vehicle and fled in an unknown direction. The loss is unknown at this time. The suspect was described as a Black male, 30 years of age, wearing a blue hoodie and jeans. Nobody was injured. Robbery detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the incident."
