Healing and Forgiveness and Why It is So Hard to Forgive a Narcissist|Lisa A Romano Podcast

Healing and Forgiveness and Why It is So Hard to Forgive a Narcissist|Lisa A Romano Podcast Anger can help us end toxic and narcissistic relationships. Anger can help us set healthy boundaries. Anger can help push us to protect ourselves. Anger can help us stop narcissistic abuse. I am not someone who believes anyone has the right to tell someone else when it is time to release anger but I am someone who has benefited from learning to reframe my perception of what it means to forgive a narcissist or anyone who I have felt wounded by.

Do you or should you forgive a narcissist? Well, that depends on your definition of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not forgetting. Forgiveness is a releasing of powerful healing energy that is available to you at the heart level. While the mind may never forget, the heart has the potential to help you consciously, emotionally, and spiritually rise above anger and resentments that otherwise might weigh you down.

Forgiving a narcissistic spouse, parent, child, girlfriend or boyfriend might seem impossible right now and that is okay. Forgiving an abuser is not something that should happen before you are ready. In fact, even if you never desire to forgive a narcissist, that is completely within your right. Maybe you should never forgive the narcissist who victimized you and in your situation that might be absolutely appropriate and that is okay.

When and if you ever find yourself wishing to forgive someone who abused you, I wish to offer you some ideas that have helped me move beyond the wounds I have experienced. I now see forgiveness as a way of releasing healing energy within my body and as a way to transcend my wounded ego.

Again, I need to reiterate that it is not my intention to have anyone feel that it is necessary to forgive an abuser. This podcast on forgiving a narcissist or another abuser is offered to those who may find it difficult to forgive a narcissist but who may want some tools on how to proceed moving forward.

I do not believe the most important thing is to forgive a narcissist. The most important thing is to remove ourselves from narcissistic relationships and to protect ourselves from narcissistic, abusive, toxic people. Forgiving someone who hurt you can feel like asking way too much of a narcissistic abuse victim.

Forgiving a narcissist is like asking us to offer something to someone who has taken so much from us. Forgiveness is the hardest part but when we see forgiveness as a releasing of energy that is done for our sake, we benefit from the power of healing energy.
