Teenagers arrested after being found with knives and hammer coming out of garden

Teenagers arrested after being found with knives and hammer coming out of garden Two teenagers have been arrested after being caught by police sneaking out of a garden with knives and a hammer.   Officers were called to Ridge Hill Lane in Stalybridge in the early hours of Friday morning following reports of two people acting suspiciously.  When they arrived, police spotted the boys - aged 16 and 17 - coming out of a nearby garden.  They were stopped and searched and were found to be carrying a hammer and Stanley knives.  Both were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.  Stalybridge inspector Andy Holden said that one of the teenagers was also arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.  He said the boy was found with ' identifiable property' which led officers to a car they believe had been broken into.  A second vehicle - a silver Volkswagen Polo on false plates - was also seized for forensics after checks revealed it was stolen.  Both teenagers remain in custody for questioning, with searches of their homes due to take place.
