Trash Is Being Turned Into Building Material In South Africa

Trash Is Being Turned Into Building Material In South Africa Educators and builders in South Africa are using Ecobricks to turn trash into building material. Organizations in the country have said the bricks are a temporary solution to the country's garbage issue. South Africa’s Department of Environmental Affairs reported last year that 98 million tons of waste are deposited across the country’s 826 landfill sites annually. The 2018 South African State of Waste Report said that of the 42 million tons of waste generated in the country in 2017, only 4.9 million tons were recycled — that’s only about 11% of South Africa’s garbage.
