Article 370 scrapped: Security forces deployed across J&K in view of imposition of Section 144

Jammu/ Doda/ Srinagar (J&K), Aug 06 (ANI): Security forces have been deployed in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir as Section 144 is imposed there since midnight of July 04. In J&K’s Doda, Rapid Action Force (RAF) is deployed in large numbers to take control of the overall situation. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Srinagar the security forces are also deployed in large numbers to take toll of the current scenario. Section 144 prevents the gathering of more than four people in an area. Any pre-planned congregation or sudden unforeseen congregation of ritualistic nature shall be conducted with the prior approval of the District Magistrate. The Central government on Monday had revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and proposed that the state be bifurcated into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill, 2019, strips Jammu and Kashmir’s status of a state and converts it into a Union Territory with legislature and carving out Ladakh region as a UT without legislature.
