The advantages of gastric placation is that here we don’t cut the stomach, there is no stitching and suturing that happens by cutting the tissues. That is the reason of leakage of the stomach. That is one of the major complication of resection is completely avoided. The disadvantage is that we don’t know how much of volume that we are retaining in the stomach at all in this placation procedure because we are taking inward stitch, there is a possibility that the tissues can bleed. The obesity failure can also happen because the stretching of the stomach is persistent with the plication surgical procedure.
