✍   Fine Gael is trying to convince one of its TDs to reverse his decision to retire and run for the party in the next general election.  Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is set to meet Sligo-Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin in the coming days. Fine Gael sources said the party is hopeful of convincing Mr McLoughlin to reverse his long-standing plan to retire at the next election amid an exodus of TDs in recent months.  Junior Minister Jim Daly announced his surprise departure in September, becoming the seventh Fine Gael TD who is stepping down at the next election.  Mr McLoughlin, who announced his retirement over a year ago, is reluctant to commit to running again but said he would meet the Taoiseach out of courtesy and respect.  Fine Gael's election ticket in the constituency was plunged into turmoil earlier this year after its two selected candidates, Councillor SinΓ©ad Maguire and former TD Gerry Reynolds, quit the ticket within weeks of each other.  Fine Gael has selected Senator Frank Feighan t ...
