In a fast-paced world, it is without a doubt that all people wish for convenience in their everyday lives. Especially with what everyone needs: food. In the busy roads of Imus, Cavite, we visited a mall which houses a call center, everyday stores and food establishments called Lumina Point Mall. And since we’re talking about convenience, we had to pick a store which is considered to be most convenient: the convenience store equipped with an in-store kitchen facility, Ministop.

Famous for their cheap and affordable foods, Ministop has established their name as one of the most accessible convenience stores in the country. The prices of the meals served mostly do not exceed a hundred pesos. With almost five hundred (500) branches nationwide, they have branded their service nearby and within reach. The food served at Ministop does not only cater the hunger and cravings of certain people but is also open for everyone - students, employees, and people of all ages. People can visit even at the wee hours of the night as it is open for 24 hours.

Ministop offers a wide variety of foods. From deep fried meals, rice meals, steamed buns and dimsum, juices and shakes, Ministop has it all. Compared to other convenience stores located in the Philippines, Ministop has a in-store kitchen to prepare meals instead of reheating with the use of microwaves.

It is normal that in convenience stores, the quality of the food is dependent on the time it was cooked, especially that most of the time, those cooked food are stored behind glass, waiting to be bought, and customers like us want to taste their food which are right off the heat.

As students with a limited allowance, we wanted to try where our budget will take us in Ministop. At the Lumina branch of this convenience store, despite being it next to a famous fast food chain, some people choose to go to Ministop for shorter queuing and cheaper meals. Most of these people are those employees who work for the call center located at the higher level of the mall; wearing their IDs with their wallets and smartphones, as simple as that, they sit down and munch their food inside the convenience store. Some people carry with them big eco-bags from the market next to the mall, and some tag with them kids who cannot sit still while waiting for their food. There is a sense of realization that this place does not choose its customers. Arms wide stretched, there is no boundary for whoever wants to save money but at the same time eat good food.

With different meals to choose from and its price light to one’s pockets, we ought to choose those which we found interesting to try, especially that some of us is our first time trying Ministop’s convenience foods. We picked to eat their kariman, fritters, burger steak, set meals, siopao, iced drinks and of course, we cannot forget their famous Uncle John’s fried chicken.
