I paid 90k for my accounting degree and my favourite class was excel. It was the class with the most value that i could learn on youtube for free. And excel is something I could have gone on youtube and learned in less than 1 day. ( btw excel class cost 700 per credit and it was 3 credits) = $2,100
Now I got lucky: I got grants, financial aid, scholarships and even won contest. But some of my friends were not. And they got stuck with two things I want you to avoid.
Top 7 Useless College Degrees
1. Business Administration
Story:
Beg: It's one of the most common degrees in the game. You don’t specialise in anything and most of the tactics you can pick up in any book
Climax: I have two friends that graduated with these degrees
- One works at a child health facility
- Another at a hospital
Sounds fancy but… that’s just code for one work at a babysitting place
And the other as the back desk
Ending: Both earn minimum wage, and both owe over 50k in student loans
Tip: if you want to get this degree, the college you get from, matters a lot.
Because this degree gives you the ability to manage a business, and everyone wants to hire the best. ( unless your parents own the place, you’ll be out of luck)
2. Fine Arts/ General Studies
Story:
Beg: the only people that do these degrees and make money are cops, and other jobs that require some college education
Climax: Aside from that, any other person that graduates with this and tries to get a job
Joke: I got a degree in fine arts/ general studies ( just leave your resume)
Ending: you didn’t specialist, so no one knows what you can or can't do.
Tip: the people that do this degree are usually kids that don’t know what they want to do. Go try out different things and jobs, until you know what you want to do.
3. Sociology (the study of human society)
Story: before you go research the unemployment rates remember, that if you graduated with a degree and are now an uber drive( you are still employed)
Beg: this is the designated degree for all the people that don’t know what they want to do.
Climax: it's one of those jobs you can only really get through, connections or you become a teacher teaching it
Ending: So if you ask me, is it worth it. Nope.
4. Religious Studies: listen I’m not here to judge or to say being an atheist is more profitable. ( however, I had no idea you can go to college and become an associate pastery)
Story:
Beg: I think this really depends on two factors, location and location
Climax: for example: if you are in a location of high demand for these types of career, you could be solid, but if not you’ll be stuck
Ending: Btw; this degree as an IRO of 22%
Tip: the average degree might cost between 20- 121k depending if you go to a private college or not.
- This job might pay you 40-50k per year: there's no way you can pay off all your student loans at once. So you’ll be stuck paying for a long time.
- Unless you want to do it for the lord and not the money, I wouldn’t choose this one
5. Masters in Entrepreneurship
Story: Oh Tommy this is the art of teaching someone how to learn on their own.
Beg: this again depends on the college you go to
Climax: I think entrepreneurship before I could spell it.
Ending: I went to college and they said you’ll learn the following
- Management
- Entrepreneurial experience
- Family business management
- Entrepreneur start-up
Tip: You can get a master for less than 1k, by investing all that money, into books and textbooks.
6. Social Media/ Marketing: media salary of 46k
Story:
Beg: the guy that taught me social media In college had 159 followers
Climax: In one week: I started working for YouTuber for free, and read Gary book crushing it.
Ending: This was all the information I needed.
Tip: I remember working at Gym company, and they had a marketing department. A million-dollar business with less 20k followers, I had more followers than them. ( ps the business has dropped in value by more 50%)
7. IDKWIW specialist Degree ( -60k )
The best way to learn is on someone else dollar: make mistakes on their time and with their money.
College is not the answer: it’ll cost you money.
